Florida Atlantic University's Office of International Programs recently hosted a Study Abroad Fair at the Boca Raton campus to help built a positive career path, world view, and self-confidence among FAU students, organizers said.

“Study abroad fairs are complete educational fairs for FAU students, faculty and staff. It shows you many exciting new opportunities to expand your learning experience beyond campus,” said Tania Tucker, coordinator of international academic programs.

“One of the many positive things about study abroad fairs is being able to talk with the representatives about individual programs that catch your attention and see amazing photos from past experiences and places around the world. It’s really helpful,” communication student Stephanie Brynes said.

In February, more than 20 exhibitors displayed information about going abroad with more than 250 programs. They ranged from internships in Asia, United Kingdom and South America to studying for college credit in Europe, Australia, and India among others. The only place study abroad programs have not conquered yet is the North Pole.

“Semester at Sea caught my attention,” Brynes said. “Studying abroad on a cruise and going all around the world has to be the most unique, exotic and growing learning experience.”

Semester at Sea is one of the more adventuresome programs offered to students around the country.

“We offer a program aboard a cruise for students to gain different field experiences. We work in collaboration with the University of Virginia to create engaging courses, select exemplary faculty and explore the world with a unique, comparative studies focus,” said former Semester at Sea student Bridget Thompson, now a recruiter for the organization.

Another study aboard program, the Centers for Academic Programs Abroad, provides students with study in such places as South America, the Caribbean, Australia and Europe.

“I want to go to London – it has been my dream. I saw this brochure from CAPA. This organization gives students a chance to go to London and many other places. I went to their Web page and they offer internships for Nickelodeon in London. I’m excited about that,” student Gal Kol said.
